The MOI’s Central Response and Control 911 Directorate collaborated with Hytera to deploy Iraq’s first integrated 911 emergency system. This replaced 26 fragmented emergency numbers with a unified command hub, integrating DMR/TETRA radios, CCTV networks, body cameras, and AI-powered dispatch tools to synchronize police, fire, and medical responses across Baghdad.

Since launching in 2024, the system processes 100,000+ emergency calls daily at 99.98% uptime, reducing critical incident response times by 40% (MOI data). It features real-time GIS mapping, predictive incident analytics, and cross-agency tracking—allowing Baghdad operators to prioritize life-threatening emergencies while optimizing patrol deployments.

The project’s innovative approach has garnered global attention, recently being shortlisted as a finalist for the 2025 International Critical Communications Awards (ICCAs) in the Best Use of Critical Communications in Public Safety category. This nomination places the Iraqi MOI among global public safety initiatives, with winners to be announced in Brussels next month.
